Dwayne R. Towles

Dwayne is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Advanced Safety & Health, LLC headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. He has over 28 years experience in occupational safety and fire protection. He holds a Master of Science in Occupational Safety Management and a Bachelor of Science in Fire Prevention and Control/Industrial Risk Management. With Advanced Safety & Health, Dwayne has worked with clients such as LG&E Energy Services, Lockheed Martin, Wild Turkey Distilleries, Marine Builders and many others where he was/is involved in multiple aspects of occupational safety, regulatory compliance, and insurance loss control services. Prior to establishing the company in 2000, Dwayne was the Accident Prevention Leader for EBI Companies in Charlotte, North Carolina . He has served as a corporate safety and security manager for a large manufacturing company as well as a safety engineer for a U.S. defense contractor working on the production of the Multiple Launch Rocket System and various other weapons projects for the U.S. Army. Along with his safety background, Dwayne also has a significant amount of experience in various fire and emergency services capacities. He has a proven track record of assisting companies in developing and executing accident prevention strategies that have seen tangible results in reducing the frequency and severity of occurrences and in turn saving companies millions of dollars and preventing hundreds of injuries each year.

Dwayne is an authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor for the Maritime, Construction, and General Industry 10 and 30 hour programs as well as a trainer for the OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Eastern Kentucky University. In addition, he has served as an Adjunct Instructor for the Indiana University Occupational Safety undergraduate program. He has been a speaker on numerous occasions on various safety topics for the:

Ann is Operations Manager and co-owner of Advanced Safety & Health, LLC based in Louisville , Kentucky . She has over 25 years experience in occupational safety, health, fire prevention, and security. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Safety and Security and an Associate of Arts in Fire Prevention and Control from Eastern Kentucky University . In addition, she has completed postgraduate work in Occupational Safety Management. Before establishing Advanced Safety & Health, Ann worked with two safety consulting firms: OSEA/NC in Charlotte , North Carolina and Barron and Associates in Lafayette , Indiana. Prior to entering the consulting world, she was the Safety Manager at A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company where she was instrumental in the reduction of the OSHA recordable rate by 50% and their associated cost by 30%. Prior to that, she worked for General Dynamics as the plant safety engineer for a 1700+ employee facility. During her tenure, the plant received the Achievement for Excellence in Safety and Health Performance from the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. She started her career working for Chevron USA as a Fire Safety Technician working with asphalt plants, product terminals, and service stations.

In her current capacity Ann oversees the day to day operations of the company as well as working with organizations to develop OSHA compliance programs and implement strategies to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses.

Eric Lawrence

Eric acts as a Safety Consultant in our Louisville office where his main focus is providing accident prevention and OSHA compliance consulting with an emphasis in manufacturing safety. Eric has worked with companies such as Thermex-Thermatron, BJK Industries, Thybar Corporation, North American Galvanizing, and Process Machinery. Eric has nearly 10  years experience in occupational safety management. His industrial safety background includes working for manufacturers in the metal stamping, welding, assembly, powder coat painting, automotive, and machining industries. Some of his previous employment experience includes improving environmental, health and safety programs as an industrial safety professional at Stauble Machine & Tool, Precision Tool & Die, AP Technoglass, and General Electric Appliances. Eric holds a Masters of Science in Loss Prevention and Safety from Eastern Kentucky University .

He has served as a board member of the Louisville Chapter of American Society of Safety Engineers for the past several years.  Eric is also an authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor for the General Industry 10 and 30 hour programs.

Laura Dietrich, CPE, MA

Laura is an Ergonomics Consultant with our Louisville, Kentucky office. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology from Michigan State and is one of only a very few Certified Professional Ergonomists (CPE) working in the Louisville, Kentucky area.

Laura has over 17 years experience working as an ergonomist in companies such as General Motors, where she developed the Small Car Group Design-In Program in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as well as other ergonomic and process improvement projects throughout General Motors operations. She was also responsible for designing and implementing the Ambrake Ergonomic Process in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Laura has presented ergonomic programs to the Assistant Secretary of Labor (Joe Dear in June, 1994) and at the National Safety Council Exposition (October, 1997). She has expertise in reactive, proactive, and office ergonomic programs as well. Laura provides ergonomic project work for clients to assist them in addressing existing ergonomic concerns as well as providing "design in" consultative services for new projects and processes. Laura's list of service capabilities range from providing ergonomic awareness training to assisting organizations establish a comprehensive ergonomic process throughout their entire organization.  Some of her clients include Chevron, Google, UGN, and Miller Brewing Company.



Jonathan Brown

Based in our Louisville office, Jonathan heads up our Fleet Safety and DOT initiative as well as performing occupational safety and health consulting services. Prior to joining Advanced Safety & Health, Jonathan was the Trade Marketing Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager for Brown & Williamson Tobacco. In that capacity, he managed the fleet and sales force safety programs for their field sales organization of 1,500+ managers nationwide. While at Brown & Williamson Tobacco, Jonathan was instrumental in the reduction of their Field Sales OSHA Recordable Rate by 54% along with reducing the workers compensation costs by 55% and auto liability by 60%. He has also worked as a safety specialist with Pitney Bowes and an EHS Leader with General Electric Appliances in Louisville , Kentucky and Safety Director for Armada Manufacturing in Irvine , Kentucky . Jonathan served in the United States Army and was a Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician prior to and while attending college.

Jonathan obtained his Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial Safety and Risk Management from Eastern Kentucky University . He served on the ANSI Z-15 "Motor Vehicle Fleet Safety Standard" standards committee and is a past President of the Louisville Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
 

Gary P. Smith
 

Gary performs as a Safety Consultant based in our Louisville, Kentucky office.  He comes to us with a wealth of experience and knowledge from his 34 years with DuPont Elastomers. 
 
In 1974, Gary was hired at DuPont as a Production Operator.  Over the years, Gary was promoted to higher levels of responsibility and leadership including positions in production supervision and ten years as Personnel Development Leader.  He finished his career with DuPont as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist performing auditing, training, and working with safety and ergonomic teams.
 
Gary is an OSHA Authorized Outreach Instructor for both General Industry and Construction outreach programs.  His many certifications include First Aid Responder, CPR Responder, Six Sigma Greenbelt, and Fire Fighter.  Gary has significant training and people development skills that is a great asset in working with our clients.

Jamie Jarboe
 
Jamie holds the position of Human Resource Specialist. She has over 25 years experience in the human resources field. She is very familiar with the day-to-day operations of an HR department in manufacturing and service industries in both large and small organizations. Past employers include Conforma Clad, Conco, and Brown-Forman. As a true generalist, Jamie has expertise in writing and administering human resource policies and procedures; recruiting and hiring hourly and salaried employees; handling workers compensation and unemployment claims; developing and conducting new employee orientations; maintaining electronic and paper records systems; and administering benefits programs. With Advanced Safety & Health she assists our client companies in human resource issues that affect safety and health within their organizations.

In addition to offering human resource services, Jamie handles our office and administrative functions. She is active with the Louisville chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. Jamie holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville.


Pennsylvania Office

Gregory L. Spotts, CSP

Greg is the Manager for Advanced Safety & Health's Northeast Regional Office located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He has over ten years of experience in the safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental field. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Hygiene Management and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Greg is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

In his current role, Greg works with clients to perform safety and environmental audits, environmental and safety training, develop comprehensive written programs and standard operating procedures, conduct industrial hygiene surveys, and complete environmental reports and permits. Prior to joining Advanced Safety & Health, LLC, he was the Environmental Health and Safety Manager for Armstrong Cabinet Products' Thompsontown, Pennsylvania facility. Additionally, Greg has performed as a Safety Manager for Talbot Holdings Ltd., Milacron, Inc.; an Accident Prevention Specialist with EBI Companies; an Environmental and Safety Specialist with Abbott Laboratories, Ross Products Division; a Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance Specialist with Bio-Oxidation Inc.; an Environmental and Safety Coordinator with Aristokraft Inc.; and an Industrial Hygiene Technician and Staff Scientist with ATEC Associates.
